Common questions

Do I need to run a Bitcoin or Lightning node?
No. AvoPay uses Boltz Exchange to handle all swap infrastructure. You only need the free AQUA wallet app on your phone.
Do I need a separate subscription for each product?
Yes. WooCommerce, Website Checkout, and Commerce are three separate products — each requires its own subscription at the same price. All three connect to the same AQUA wallet and use the same dashboard.
What wallet do I need?
The AQUA wallet by JAN3. It is free, available on iOS and Android, and takes 1 minute to set up. Download AQUA →
What fees does AvoPay charge?
AvoPay charges a flat subscription — $9/month or $6/month on the yearly plan (paid in Bitcoin Lightning). We charge zero transaction fees. A Boltz swap fee of approximately 0.25% plus a small network fee applies at settlement. These are charged by Boltz, not AvoPay, and are shown transparently at checkout.
What happens if a payment fails?
If a swap fails or times out, the customer sees an error and is given a fresh invoice to retry. Their Lightning payment is not taken until the swap succeeds.
Where does my money go?
Directly to your AQUA wallet as Bitcoin Lightning. You can then swap to onchain Bitcoin or USD/EUR stablecoin inside the AQUA app, or spend directly via Lightning.
What about chargebacks?
Lightning payments are irreversible. Chargebacks are technically impossible. This is one of the biggest advantages for merchants — no friendly fraud, no dispute fees, no reserves held by a payment processor.
